Trolls fall short, lose first CCAC match to Titans

The Trinity women's volleyball team traveled to Indiana-South Bend to continue conference play and hopefully keep their undefeated conference streak alive. However, it didn't go in their favor tonight.

In the first set, the Trolls were not able to get into a groove. The Titans took an early lead and didn't let up, causing Trinity to lose the set 13-25.

The second set told a different narrative. The Trolls stuck with the Titans throughout most of the set, even causing it to go into extra points. But even with the effort, the Trolls fell short, losing 24-26.

In the third and final set, the Trolls fought with the Titans through most of the match, but again, Indiana-South Bend was the team that came out on top. Trinity lost the third set 21-25, being swept in the match.

Leading the way for the Trolls was sophomore Sarah Kiwan, who secured 13 kills and five digs. Senior Dani Van Laten led the team in assists (30) and digs (25) to be the only Troll to record a double-double on the night. Junior Brianna Figueroa also helped the Trolls defensively, recording 20 digs while also getting three assists.

Trinity will be back in action again Saturday, Oct. 5, as they host the University of St. Francis. During this match, there will be a fundraiser to benefit the Cancer Treatment Centers of America's Breast Cancer Center in Chicago with a raffle.
