Win streak extended as Trolls sweep Cougars

After winning three games in a row, the Trinity women's volleyball team was set to face conference opponent Saint Xavier. Although the Cougars won the last three meetings between the two teams, it was the Trolls who won this match, winning 3-0.

In the first set, the Trolls dominated the Cougars, taking an early lead and running with it. Trinity came out on top, winning this set 25-13.

The second set was a closer match between the two competitors, but by the end, the Trolls came out victorious with a 25-20 win in the set.

The third set started similarly to the last. Although the Trolls grabbed the lead early, it didn't stop the Cougars from fighting back during the last five points of the match. And even though they clawed their way back into the set, it wasn't enough. Trinity swept Saint Xavier in three, winning 25-23.

Leading the way for the Trolls offensively was sophomore Sarah Kiwan, who hit .458 (11 kills, 0 errors, 24 attempts) on the night. Defensively, junior Brianna Figueroa finished with 18 digs and junior Britta Heggeland added four blocks.

Trinity will be back in action again on Saturday, Sept. 14, as they travel to Roosevelt University. First serve will begin at 1 p.m.
