The Trinity women's volleyball team finished the Saint Xavier/Trinity Crossover tournament on a win, and now, the team secured another, extending their winning streak to two. The Trolls defeated the Trinity International Trojans three sets to one in the first CCAC match of the season.
In the first set, the two teams went back and forth, but the Trolls ultimately came out on top, winning 25-20.
The second set began the same, with the two teams going neck and neck, but the result was different this time. The Trojans were the ones who were able to pull ahead, winning the set 25-21.
And what seemed to be another close match, with the two teams constantly switching points, turned into a tight win for Trinity Christian as they slipped by Trinity International 25-23.
But the fourth set had a different narrative. The Trolls got a 10-point lead early in the set. From there, Trinity Christian ran away with it, winning the set 25-12 and the match 25-12.
Leading the offense for the Trolls was sophomore Sarah Kiwan. She finished with yet another double-double this season, registering 15 kills and 11 digs. Junior Britta Heggeland also contributed to the offensive effort, hitting .412 (eight kills, one error, 17 attempts). She also secured four solo blocks throughout the match. In the backrow, junior Anna Maatman led the way, recording 22 digs along with five kills.
The Trolls are currently on a two-game winning streak and are now 1-0 in CCAC play. The team will be back in action again at DeVos Gymnasium on Sept. 10 as they take on Olivet Nazarene.
