The Trinity women's soccer team suffered a tough loss to Trinity International on Wednesday, and today, the Trolls were hoping to get back into a winning rhythm against a tough CCAC opponent in Cardinal Stritch, which they were able to do.
In the first half, neither team was able to score, but not for a lack of trying. Each team put up three shots to try and create a scoring opportunity, but none came. Each teams' defense was prepared for each attempt, making this a very physical game.
It wasn't until the second half that the Trolls would be able to take the lead. Sophomore Brianna Uhl grabbed the first goal of the match, sneaking a slow-rolling shot through the legs of Cardinal Stritch's Maria Amenieros to get a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute.
Uhl was able to score again for the Trolls in the 62nd minute unassisted, helping to secure a win for the Trolls. However, the Wolves managed to score a goal off a shot from Mariah Downs in the 80th minute, but it wasn't enough. The Trolls won 2-1.
The Trolls will be back in action again on Wednesday as they head to Elgin, Illinois to play the Judson University Eagles. The game will begin at 3 p.m.
