The Trinity women's soccer team went to Joliet today to go against the University of St. Francis Fighting Saints with the Trolls' undefeated season on the line. And although the St. Francis played a competitive match, it was the Trolls who came out on top, beating the Fighting Saints 2-0.
In the first half of the match, no one was able to score. Both teams put numerous shots on goal, but the ball never found the back of the net.
It wasn't until the second half that the Trolls were able to get a goal. Sophomore Selah Hopkins scored the first one off a pass from senior Shaelyn Postmus to give Trinity the 1-0 lead in the 55th minute.
From there, the Trolls managed to get another goal in the 83rd again from Hopkins, who secured the win for Trinity and helped the team continue with their undefeated season.
Along with Hopkins scoring two goals and Postmus recording an assist, junior Ally Kranstz recorded another shutout, which is her fourth of the season and the team's fifth.
The Trolls will be back in action again on Wednesday as they head to Iowa to play St. Ambrose beginning at 6 p.m.
