Early goal not enough to give Trolls win against Fighting Saints

The Trinity men's soccer team headed to Joliet today to play against the University of St. Francis Fighting Saints in hopes of bringing their CCAC record to .500. Although the Trolls recorded an early goal, St. Francis ended with a 3-1 win over Trinity.

The Trolls early goal over the Fighting Saints came from freshman Emmanuel Iradukunda, who scored in the 11th minute of the match, giving Trinity the 1-0 lead in the first.

Once the second half rolled around, it was all on the Fighting Saints. They managed to score a goal four minutes into the half, and from there, the Trolls were unable to stop them. St. Francis scored two more goals, one in the 53rd and another in the 87th minute to secure the win.

Along with Iradukunda's goal, which was his first of the season, 10 Trolls players were able to put up shots, with seven being on goal.

The men's team will be back in action again Tuesday as they head to St. Ambrose for a CCAC matchup that will begin at 6 p.m.
