Trolls Deny Golden Eagles

The Trolls made it a perfect weekend trip to Michigan as they capped it off with a shut-out victory at Cornerstone University (Grand Rapids).  The Trinity scored one goal in each period to post the 2-0 victory over the Golden Eagles. With the win the team maintains their perfect record with a 6-0 start to their season.

It was midway through the first period when the Trolls first got on the board. Tori Rivas took a free kick that she nicely placed over the goalkeeper’s head to the upper corner of the net. Trinity held that 1-0 lead at the half.

The teams continued in that one-goal game through most of the second period. It was not until the 79th minute that the Trolls added an insurance goal when Jadyn Wilson took a shot that found the top left corner of the goal. The team held off Cornerstone in their final attempts and walked away with the shut-out.

For the game the Trolls had nine shots and Cornerstone had 13. Sierra Christopher and Emily Ponstein shared the shut-out in the goal.

The Trolls play next on September 12 at Indiana Tech at 7 pm EST.
