Trolls Ease by Red Lions

The Trolls make it four in a row at the start of their season with another home victory. This latest win came against Lincoln Christian University (Lincoln, Illinois) in a 9-0 shut-out.  The game was never in question as the Trolls dominated play. They put six goals in the net in the first half and added another three in the second period.  

The scoring for the Trolls came from eight different players. The first three goals occurred in the opening 10 minutes of the game.  The first goal was made by Lexi Zambrano on an assist by Jessica Bianchi at the five minute mark. Less than four minutes later Jessica Owen scored on a Zambrano pass. Just seconds after that Marissa Fields dribbled through the defense and took a shot that made it 3-0 game.

Midway through the period the team scored again when Jadyn Wilson found the net on a pass by Bianchi. A few minutes later Abbigal Nienhuis and Ava Gomez paired up for two goals in less than two minutes. Gomez was on the receiving end of the Nienhuis’ assist in both instances.  By the half Trinity had a 6-0 lead.

The first goal of the second period came seven minutes into the half when Taylor Miller gave the ball to Shaelyn Postmus for the goal. Within a minute the Trolls were on the board again when Sierra Christopher, who was playing in the field instead of the goal, scored on a Bianchi assist. The final goal came in the 80th minute as Petyon Richmond connected on a cross from Nicole Faulkner.

The Trolls ended the game with 51 shots of which 29 were on goal. Gomez led the team with two goals while Zambrano had one goal and one assist. Bianchi handed out three assists and Nienhuis had two. Lindsey Dykema and Allyson Kranstz shared the shut-out in the goal.

The team is next in action on September 8 at Aquinas College in a 7 pm EST game.
