Trolls Eliminated from CCAC Championship

For the first time in three seasons the Trolls entered the CCAC Championship held at The Ballpark in Rosemont, Illinois. In the first game the No. 8 Trolls faced No.1 University of St. Francis, the No. 11 ranked team in the nation. One inning made the difference and the Trolls fell 4-0. With the loss the team moved to the elimination bracket of the tournament and faced No. 5 St. Ambrose University in their second game. The team could not get on the board in that game and were shut-out with a 3-0 final to end their tournament play.

Against St. Francis the base path was quiet for both teams for much of the game. The Trolls started with a lead-off single by Alisson Ramirez, but then they did not get a runner on base again until the 6th inning when Dara Megyesi singled.  In the 7th Trinity was on the base path again on a Jamie Budreau single. However, without stringing anything together, the Trolls did not score.

St. Francis was three up and three down in four innings of their six innings on offense. The difference in the game came in the bottom of the 3rd inning when the Saints had four of their five hits for the game. Behind the efforts of three singles and a triple they scored four runs. The Trolls allowed only two more runners on for the rest of the game, but the damage had been done.

Trinity ended the game with three hits and St. Francis had five. Dara Megyesi was on the mound for the loss.

The Trolls had a hard time getting the bats going in the second game as well and had only two hits which they came in two separate innings. The first hit came in the top of the third inning from Emily Phillips and the next was in the 5th inning from Katelyn Sena. With limited base runners the Trolls could not get anything going.

St. Ambrose had hits in each of the first five innings. They used those hits, along with a couple of Trinity errors, to score one run in the 3rd inning and another two in the 4th to take a 3-0 lead.

For the game Trinity ended with two hits and Saint Ambrose with seven. Megyesi pitched through 5.1 innings for the loss

The Trolls conclude their season with an 18-22 record.
