Coach Josh Lenarz is building the 2017 soccer roster and has added a number of players to the Trolls’ soccer family. A number of strong high school seniors from across the country have committed to Trinity and have signed letters of intent to play for the Trolls. These new recruits will be a positive addition to the team and the Trinity community.

 

 

 

Taylor Busker

Hometown: Plainfield, Illinois

High School: Aurora Christian High School

What led you to Trinity? My parents always thought that Trinity would be a good place for me, but I was not entirely convinced. However after I visited, I felt extremely welcomed and I knew that that was where God wanted me. Also, the opportunity to play my favorite sport again made the decision a no-brainer.

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity? I am just most excited to play again. I have not been able to play on a team in three years and that has been extremely hard for me, since I had pretty much played nonstop since the age of three.

Soccer Background: Played for Plainfield Soccer Association for seven years.

Awards and Achievements: I received the Christian Character Award.

Marissa Fields

Hometown: Menifee, California

High School: Linfield Christian High School

What led you to Trinity? I was brought to Trinity by college recruiter Tim Fenton. He first introduced Trinity to me after a soccer game at a tournament in San Diego. Everything fell into place after that and I'm excited for Trinity to be my new home!

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity? I am excited to build new relationships and create new memories that will carry on with me after college.

Soccer Background: Played four years of varsity soccer at Linfield Christian. Played club soccer for Legends in Temecula, California, for the past two years.   

Awards and Achievements: First-team All-League honors for four years. Multiple club soccer tournament wins.

Ava Gomez

Hometown: Huntington Beach, California

What led you to Trinity?  I wanted to try out a different environment for the next four years of my life, and once I visited the campus, met and played with the team, I instantly felt at home. I knew it was a right fit and had a great feeling about the school. The team as well as the coaches are amazing and made me feel extremely welcome. Not only that, but they are all great athletes that I know will push me to do my best. After training with the team, I toured the campus and loved the nature and beauty surrounding it, and could picture myself living there for the next four years.  

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity?   I am extremely excited to play with a team that is dedicated and fun, and to be a part of a new family. I have been playing soccer since I was four years old, and it brings me joy to play for myself and my teammates, and I am looking forward to growing as not only an athlete, but as the individual I am meant to become.

Soccer Background: Started playing AYSO soccer and played on a U12 All-Star Team. Played for club soccer for North Huntington Beach Futbol Club, Infinity Soccer Club, and Slammers Football Club. Played for her high school – was on the junior varsity for my freshman year and sophomore year and as a sophomore also played on the varsity team.

Awards and Achievements:  Offensive Player of the Year for my high school junior varsity team in my freshman year. .

Ally Kranstz

Hometown: Portage, Michigan

High School: Kalamazoo Christian High School

What led you to Trinity?  I visited with the rep who came to my school and I ended up being interested. I visited the campus, was interested in the bio/chem programs, loved the soccer program, and everything just seemed right. I guess you could say God led me to it because most people I know hadn't heard of Trinity before.

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity?  Having the opportunity to get to know and play with a bunch of people who are as passionate about soccer as I am.

Soccer Background: Played on the varsity team at Kalamazoo Christian. Played on TKO soccer club, TKO Crew Jrs., and Midwest United FC

Awards and Achievements: Was named to the All-State, All-Region, All-District, and All-Conference Teams for three years. Received All-Team Academic honors for three years. Earned Kalamazoo Gazette Girls Soccer Dream Team Honorable Mention. Was MSU soccer camp MVP Goalie.  Recorded 35 shutouts in 70 games of high school career.

Drew McCarthy

Hometown: Sun City, California

What led you to Trinity? The beautiful campus, the school's location, and the school’s small size and family-oriented atmosphere.   

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity? Being a part of a new team and that I will be playing college soccer with my best friend Marissa Fields.

Soccer Background:  Played for four years, including three on the varsity team, at Murrieta Valley High School. Has played club soccer for Arsenal FC, So Cal Blues and Legends FC and as a guest player in nationals with Temecula United.

Awards and Achievements: Have been on many championship teams in club soccer. Received tournament MVP awards in high school and club.

Coral Nava

Hometown: Belvidere, Illinois

What led you to Trinity? Their amazing education program and simply how welcoming the environment is.

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity? All the challenges that I will experience.

Emily Ponstein

Hometown: Hudsonville, Michigan

High School: Unity Christian High School

What led you to Trinity? I truly believe that Jesus led me to Trinity. Trinity is where I belong. When I step onto campus I feel like I'm home, like this place is where I'm called to be. I feel that the Trolls are my people, they're my family and we've not really met yet. Trinity is a great place, and I am privileged to be a part of such an amazing college. Before I began my college search, I wrote a list of things I wanted in a college and Trinity fit that list perfectly. At the top of that list was being able to play soccer, a dream I've had since I was a kid, and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to play at Trinity!

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity? I am so excited to be a part of the Troll family! I can't wait to play with girls who are as competitive and committed as I am! And of course, I'm excited for the opportunity to win a National Championship!

Soccer Background: Played varsity soccer for four years at Unity Christian. Played club soccer for six years with the Michigan Fire Juniors, Grand Rapids Crew, and Alliance FC.

Awards and Achievements: Team was three-time State Champions. Earned All-Conference, All-District, All-Region, and All State honors. High school team had a 70-4-1 record in her career. As goalkeeper she had 119 career saves and 39.5 shut-outs. Club team was State Cup Champion.

Peyton Richmond

Hometown: Rancho Cucamonga, California

What led you to Trinity? The small size and Christian atmosphere.  

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity? Serving God on the field and off the field and the family like environment from the team.

Soccer Background: Played at Western Christian High School and for Inland Empire Surf in San Bernardino.  

Awards and Achievements: Received First Team All-League in freshman year. Captain for high school and club teams.  Played defender on high school team and in senior year the team recorded eight shutouts and gave up only seven goals while scoring 57 goals.

Paige Rogers

Hometown: Bakersfield, California

High School: Liberty High School

What led you to Trinity? I knew I wanted to continue studying and playing soccer at a small, faith-based school that had an encouraging community and good academics. When I came across Trinity Christian College at a soccer tournament I was immediately interested. When I visited the campus and met the team, I knew that was where God was leading me.

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity? I am so excited that I simply get to play with and for such wonderful people. I love the game of soccer, but playing with great people and great coaches make it so much better.

Soccer Background: Played varsity soccer for three years at Liberty High School. Sat out senior year for medical reasons.  Played for South Valley Soccer Club for seven years.

Awards and Achievements: In junior year won the Jockey Club Award by the Bakersfield Jockey Club. Named to the All-Area and All-Star teams. Club team won the Nomads Tournament in 2013.

Chloe Smith

What led you to Trinity? One of my good friends told me about Trinity and that I should go visit and talk to the soccer coach. Luckily for me, I listened to her. When I went on my first visit to Trinity it felt like home and I knew that this was where I should be.

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity?  I am most excited about being surrounded by competitive teammates who have the same motivation and excitement for the game that I do and that will push me to become the best player I can be. I’m excited to gain new friends through the game that I love.
        
Soccer Background:  Four-year varsity player at South Christian. Played for many different clubs over the years, but most recently for Michigan Fire Juniors for the past three years.

Awards and Achievements: All-district honors in sophomore and junior years, and all-conference honors in junior year. MVP of team in junior year and had the most assists.  Was captain both junior and senior years.

Kaleigh Van Elst

Hometown: Wyoming, Michigan

High School: Calvin Christian High School

What led you to Trinity?  My grandpa went to school here, was on the board here, and was Alumni of the year. My parents went and met at Trinity, and my brother, who is now a junior playing soccer, also decided to go there. You could say it is a family tradition to attend Trinity Christian College. I also liked the community feel of it. I go to Calvin Christian, which is a small tight knit community, and I wanted to go to college where I felt that same feeling. I found that here at Trinity Christian College.

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity?  What excites me is the most is the team and the people I will meet on the team. My brother said the team becomes like your family because you are always with them.

Soccer Background: Played four years on the varsity team at Calvin Christian. Played three years of Select soccer and three year of Premier 1 with Georgetown Rangers. Played for past five years with Midwest United. Was in the Super Y League for two summers.

Awards and Achievements: Earned All-Region honors as a freshman and First-Team All-State honors as a sophomore and junior. On a two-time State Champion team. Team is one of only two teams in Michigan to win four consecutive state titles. Captain of high school team for two years and for MRL club team for four years.

Aubrey Weedman

Hometown: Aliso Viejo, California

High School: Aliso Niguel High School

What led you to Trinity? Trinity plays an integral role in my testimony. So in a sense, Jesus led me to Trinity!

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity? I am most excited to connect with new teammates and create new friends with similar interests and passions. I am also excited to push myself to a new level, athletically and spiritually.
 
Soccer Background:  Four years, including three on varsity, at Aliso Niguel High School Played with same group of girls for nine years – six on an AYSO Plus team and the last three on Pateadroes club team.

Awards and Achievements: Was on a high school team that was three-time undefeated South Coast League Champions. The team was ranked in national Top 10 every season reached No. 1.  In her senior year the team gave up seven goals and scored 35+ goals. As a freshman, was captain of Freshmen/ Sophomore team that won league championship at that level for first time in program’s history. On the Pateadores was league champions and went to State Cup finals for all three seasons with the team.  The teams I have been on have won a variety of awards from different smaller tournaments, but my biggest accomplishment on the soccer field remains the lifelong sisters I have made.

 Other:  Aside from playing soccer, I enjoy being a youth leader at my church, Free Chapel OC, and running a campus ministry club for FCY. I've never lived outside of SoCal, but look forward to braving the cold in my new home!



Jaydn Wilson

Hometown: Tulare, California

High School: Central Valley Christian High School

What led you to Trinity?  The environment, the beautiful campus, and the soccer staff and players. Everyone was so welcoming to me and made me feel most at home, for living so far away.

What are you most excited about in starting your collegiate soccer career at Trinity? Continuing to have the ability to keep playing the sport I love most, at a much higher level of competition.

Soccer Background: Varsity soccer for four years at Central Valley Christian High School. Odyssey South club team in Visalia.

Awards and Achievements:  During my high school seasons, my team was CIF Valley champs, CIF Valley runner ups, and league champs for three years. The team has been league champions for 14 years in a row. I was individually awarded Offensive MVP for two years, Player of the Year one year, and First- Team All-League all four years.
