Eric Salley took over as head coach of the men’s soccer program in the 2016 season.  In his first year he led the team to the most season wins in the past five years as the team finished with an 8-9-1 overall record.  He looks forward to his second season as he continues to build the program, add quality athletes to the roster, and implement his vision.

Salley came to Trinity from Spring Arbor University in Michigan where he served as an assistant coach to their men’s program for three seasons.  As an assistant coach at Spring Arbor, Salley aided in all facets of their men’s soccer program from game strategy to recruiting as well as managing the team’s fitness and conditioning. In addition, he has coaching experience as an assistant with Lansing United, a National Premier Soccer League team, and as the head coach of a U16 boys’ club team.  Salley has also served as a strength and conditioning intern with Sporting Kansas City, an American professional soccer club, where he aided the coaching staff in practice and fitness development.

Before entering the coaching ranks, Salley was a four-year student-athlete and two-year captain on the soccer team at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.  He was a part of the 2011 squad that finished with a 19-2-1 record and made their program’s first NAIA national tournament appearance.

Salley received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Taylor in 2012. He has also earned certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has worked as a personal trainer.  In addition, he has Premier, Advanced National, and National level diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA).  

In addition to coaching, Salley serves as the Fitness Center Coordinator at the College. He, along with his wife Amanda and son Dave and daughter Joren, reside in the Homewood, Illinois. 



 

Assistant Coaches

Pat Moroney ’07 has been a part of the coaching staff for the past 10 seasons. He works mainly with the goalkeepers. As s student-athlete at Trinity he played for the Trolls from 2003-06 and was the starting goalkeeper in his last two seasons. For his career he ended up with a 1.44 goal against average, ranking third in that category in Trinity’s career records. He participated in the 2005 NCCAA National Championship.  

Moroney has completed a NSCAA National “D” License and has been a certified Illinois High School Association soccer official for ten years.

Moroney earned his bachelor’s degree from Trinity in 2007 in physical education. He has a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and is a health and physical education middle school teacher.
