Conference Post-Season Honors Announced

At the conclusion of the men’s volleyball season, post-season awards were given out by the conference. For the second year in a row the team was honored with the CCAC Champions of Character Team Award. That recognition, as voted on by the men’s volleyball coaches, is given to a team that showed great sportsmanship in competition.  Individually, freshman Jake Ostema (Orland Park, Illinois) was named the Freshman of the Year and received All-Conference Second Team honors.

For the season Ostema, a 6’8” middle hitter, was a leader at the net offensively and defensively. He registered a total of 132 kills for a 1.63 kill average. He led the team with a .297 attacking percentage and ranked fourth in the conference in hitting. Ostema was also in the top five in the conference and top 30 in the NAIA with a 0.83 block average. He finished the season with 67 blocks of which 10 were solo blocks and 57 were assisted blocks.

Also receiving conference recognition were senior Ben Tocila (Palos Hills, Illinois) and junior Ryan Bakke (New Lenox, Illinois) as CCAC Scholar-Athletes.
