Celebration of New Baseball Field

The home baseball contest on April 10 was a celebration of the new baseball field at the Schaaf Athletics Complex.  In a pre-game ceremony the athletics department recognized George Schaaf, Marv Aardema, Steve Sluis, and Trinity’s Interim President Liz Rudenga for their contributions in making the new baseball field at Trinity a reality. These distinguished dignitaries threw out the first pitch before the team took to the field in a conference contest with Purdue University-North Central. “The new field has already been a blessing,” said Athletics Director Bill Schepel. “It is a great complement to the other fields on the property and we look forward to many years of competitions at the Schaaf Complex.”

The day’s celebration continued during the game with free refreshments for the fans as well as a t-shirt give-away. The Trolls went on to please the crowd with a 13-2 victory over the Panthers.

The new field was completed in time for the team’s spring schedule and the Trolls officially played their first game at their new home on March 12. The field includes an artificial turf infield and a natural grass outfield and is equipped with new dugouts, scoreboard, batting cage, bull pens, and press box.
