Trolls Receive Conference Honors

At the conclusion of the conference season, the post-season awards were determined and the Trolls had four individuals named to the All-Conference teams. In addition Trinity claimed two of the conference’s top honors. Overall, the Trolls finished their CCAC schedule with a 15-2 record and earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship as the conference tournament runner-up.

Senior right-side hitter Kacie Stoll (Lombard, Illinois) earned First-Team All-Conference honors and took the top recognition as the CCAC Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Stoll led the team and the conference with a 3.91 kill average while accumulating 504 kills. She was sixth in attack percentage at .250 percent. In addition she ranked third in the CCAC with 0.83 blocks per set. Stoll also picked up 2.83 digs per set and posted a .946 serving percentage and a .959 reception percentage.  Stoll ranked seventh in the NAIA in total kills and 21st in kills per set. During the season she was named CCAC Offensive Player of the Week six time and Defender of the Week once.

Dani Van Laten (Westmont, Illinois) was a First-Team selection and the Setter of the Year. For the season the junior setter led the conference with a 10.0 assists per set average.  Overall she totaled 1,296 assists and ranks eighth in the NAIA in that category.  Van Laten’s all-around play also included 41 ace serves, a .942 serving percentage, 3.08 digs per set, and 0.47 blocks per set.  She was named the CCAC Setter of the Week five teams throughout the season.

Senior middle hitter Christa Veenstra (Tracy, Iowa) was named to the CCAC All-Conference Second-Team. She ranked second on the team and in the CCAC with a 0.96 block average. For the season she had a total of 12 solo and 93 assisted blocks and surpassed the 500 career blocks milestone. Also at the net Veenstra averaged 1.66 kills per set with a .255 attacking percentage.  In mid-October she earned CCAC and NAIA National Defender of the Week honors.

Also with Second-Team honors was Brianna Figueroa (Hammond, Indiana), a sophomore libero.  She was the leader on the team and third in the conference in digs with a 5.04 dig average. For the year she has a total of 676 digs and ranked in the top 25 in the NAIA. She also registered 29 aces with a .940 serving percentage.  During the season she was the CCAC Defender of the Week three times.
