Stoll and Van Laten Take CCAC Player of the Week Honors

In the final week of the regular season the Trolls swept the CCAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors. For October 29-November 3, the team posted three wins and two team members captured the conference recognition. Kacie Stoll (Lombard, Illinois) earned both the Attacker and Defender of the Week honors while Dani Van Laten (Westmont, Illinois) was the Setter of the Week.

Stoll, a senior right side hitter, was the Trolls’ leading attacker with a total of 34 kills in seven sets for a 4.86 kill average.  Her work at the net was very efficient as recorded a .370 attacking percentage.  In the one set she played in a match with Calumet-St. Joseph, Stoll hit at .700 percent with seven kills in ten attempts.

Stoll earned the defensive recognition with her all-around play. In the three matches she led the team with nine blocks for a 1.29 block average. She also had 27 digs and was second on the team with a 3.86 dig average. In the back row she also was 1.000 percent in service reception with 17 good passes.

Overall Stoll had double-doubles in two of the matches with 14 kills and 15 digs against Olivet Nazarene University and 13 kills and 12 digs against Indiana University-Northwest.  It is the sixth time this season Stoll has been the CCAC Attacker of the Week and her first Defender of the Week honor.

For the second week in a row and the fifth time this season, Van Laten was the conference’s Setter of the Week. In the three matches she tallied 82 assists and has accumulated over 1,100 assists for the season.  She averaged 11.7 assists in seven sets and help account for the team’s .237 attacking percentage.

In addition Van Laten led the team with 4.43 dig per set with a total of 31 digs. She posted a pair of double-doubles with 29 assists and 17 digs against Olivet Nazarene and 37 assists and 13 digs against IU-Northwest. Van Laten also recorded four aces behind a .971 serving percentage.

With the 3-0 results of the week the team finished the regular season at 26-8 overall. At 15-2 in the CCAC they ended in second place. The Trolls begin play in the CCAC Tournament on November 6.
