Trolls Defeat RedHawks

The Trolls ended their regular season schedule with another victory as they hosted Indiana University-Northwest (Gary, Indiana) in a non-conference match. In front of Fall Fest crowd on Senior Night the Trolls took the RedHawks in three sets at 25-18, 25-10, and 25-13. Trinity ends their regular season schedule with a 26-8 record.

The Trolls jumped out to quick lead in the first set and midway through the set had more than doubled the RedHawks score at 17-8. Trinity reached set point at 24-12, but did not finish the set until six points later as the RedHawks pushed to the 24-18 final.

Trinity once again took an early lead in the second set and on a six point scoring run with Anna Maatman at the service line they took a 16-5 lead.  The Trolls went ahead 21-10 and scored the final four points of the set for the win.

The score in the third set was tighter through the first half of the set, but the Trolls gradually pulled away. They took a 19-12 lead and only gave up one more point the rest of the set for the 25-13 win.

The Trolls ended the match with 45 kills and a .333 attacking percentage. IU-Northwest had 22 kills and a .030 attacking percentage. Kacie Stoll and Sarah Kiwan led the team with 13 kills each. Dani Van Laten had 37 assists and 13 digs. The team had five blocks for the match and Christa Veenstra was involved in three of those to bring her career total to 500 blocks.

Trinity will begin post-season play on November 6 as they host the University of St. Francis at 7 pm in a conference tournament quarterfinal match.
