Trolls Post Two Wins at CCAC Crossover

In the opening day of the CCAC Crossover held at Saint Xavier University the Trolls posted two dominate wins. Trinity began with a three set win over Robert Morris University (Chicago, Illinois) with scores of 25-12, 25-9, and 25-13. The team needed just three sets against Judson University (Elgin, Illinois) to get their second victory. The scores were 25-13, 25-12, and 25-12.

The Trolls dominated play in their opening match with Robert Morris and held the Eagles to no more than 13 points in each set. Trinity had 16 players get in the action and contribute on the court. The team added points by the handfuls in the first set and took a 25-12 win.  Trinity started out with a 9-1 lead in the second set. The Trolls continued to pull ahead and held the Eagles to under double digits at 25-9. The third set was closer in the early going with a 13-10 Troll lead. However Trinity held the Eagles to only three more points as they finished out with 12 points.

The team had 32 kills with a .323 attacking percentage, eight blocks, and 35 digs. The Eagles ended with 12 kills. Sarah Kiwan led the team with 11 kills behind a .769 attacking percentage. Dani Van Laten had 15 assists and Juliana Dykstra had 10. Brianna Figuero had nine digs while Kacie Stoll, Madysen Zula, and Britta Heggeland each had three blocks.

Trinity continued to control play in their second match against Judson. The Trolls took the lead from the start and went ahead by 18-10. The team only gave up three more points for a 25-13 win.  An 11-3 start in the second set aided the Trolls to a lopsided win in the second set.  They never let the Eagles into the set and took the 13 point win.  The third set followed the same pattern as Trinity went ahead 10-3. The team went ahead at 20-10 and finished at 25-12.

The Trolls had 46 kills with a .389 attacking percentage and Judson had 22 kills. Kiwan once again led the Trolls with 13 kills. Stoll added eight kills. Van Laten had 33 assists and 15 digs. Figueroa ended with 17 digs and Zula and Heggeland had three blocks each.

In the second day of the Crossover Trinity takes on St. Ambrose University at 10 am and Saint Xavier University at 2 pm.
