Trolls Cruise by Crimson Wave

The Trolls remained undefeated in the conference with another victory at Calumet College of St. Joseph (Whiting, Indiana). Trinity used 15 different players in the three set victory. The scores were 25-11, 25-16, and 25-21. Trinity is 12-6 overall and 5-0 in the CCAC.

The Trolls scored the first four points of the match and continued to pull away from the Crimson Wave in the opening set. The Trolls had set point at 24-9, but Calumet-St. Joseph got to double digit scoring with the next two points before Trinity ended the set on a kill by Ana Lambros.

Trinity again commanded the scoreboard in the second set and had doubled the score of the Crimson Wave at 16-8, 18-9, and 20-10. Calumet-St. Joseph gained a few points, but the Trolls finished the set at 25-16 on an ace by Maggie Tolsma.

Trinity maintained the top spot on the scoreboard in the third set, but did not completely pull away. Late in the set the Crimson Wave tied the score at 18-18 and again at 19-19. Two kills by Julia Belcher gave Trinity the lead back and with the help of two ace serves by Juliana Dykstra the Trolls finished with the 25-21 win.

For the match Trinity had 42 kills and a .269 attacking percentage. Calumet-St. Joseph had 22 kills with a .073 percentage. J. Belcher led the team with 12 kills and Kacie Stoll had six in the one set she played. Dykstra led the team with 19 assists while also recording five aces and eight digs. Brianna Figueroa had 23 digs.

The Trolls will play in the CCAC Crossover at Trinity International University on October 5-6.
