Brianna Figueroa and Dani Van Laten Receive Weekly CCAC Honors

For the third time this season both Brianna Figueroa (Hammond, Indiana) and Dani Van Laten (Westmont, Illinois) have been selected as the CCAC Volleyball Players of the Week.  With two conference victories in the week of September 17-22, Figueroa was the Defender of the Week and Van Laten was the Setter of the Week.  The team, who is receiving votes in the NAIA Preseason Coaches’ Poll, is 9-3 overall and leads the South Division of the CCAC with a 4-0 conference record.  

Brianna Figueroa, a sophomore libero, was the defensive leader with a 5.86 dig average over the two matches. Overall she collected 41 digs with a match high of 28 digs in a four set match with Olivet Nazarene University.  She also picked up 13 digs against the University of St. Francis. In addition she had a .969 serving percentage and a .914 reception percentage for the week.  Figueroa ranks second in the CCAC and is 31st in the NAIA with a 5.23 dig average.


Dani Van Laten, a junior setter, had an above average week in all-around play. She accumulated a total of 80 assists in the two matches for an 11.4 assist average. She had a match high of 50 assists against Olivet Nazarene University. She also averaged 3.86 digs and 0.71 blocks for the week.  In addition she posted a .952 serving percentage and recorded one ace.  Van Laten currently leads the conference with a 10.51 assists average and ranks 11th in the NAIA.
