Trinity Wins in Three Sets

The Trolls remain undefeated in conference play with a CCAC win over the University of St. Francis (Joliet, Illinois). Trinity needed only three sets to get by the Fighting Saint in a home match. The scores were 25-15, 25-13, 25-19. The team moves to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the CCAC.

Trinity took control of the match in the first set as they rallied to a 6-2 start. They maintained a sizable lead throughout the set and nearly doubled the Saints score at 19-10. With a total of 14 kills and only three errors in the set, the Trolls cruised to the 25-15 win.

The Trolls had even a better start to the second set. With Dani Van Laten on the service line the team took 7-0 lead. By the time the Saints reached double digit scoring the Trolls had a 20-10 advantage. Ahead at 21-11, Trinity scored their final four points on kills.

The third set took a different course as the Trolls trailed through a large majority of the set. Down 16-14, Trinity rallied off five points in a row to take a 19-16 lead. Once they had the lead they continued to stay ahead and ended the set and match with kills by Sarah Kiwan and Kacie Stoll.

The Trolls had a total of 39 kills for the match with a .224 attacking percentage. St. Francis ended with 21 kills. Stoll led the team with 10 kills and Anna Maatman had seven. The Trolls also had 7.5 blocks with Christa Veenstra with five and Stoll and Van Laten with three each. Ana Lambros picked up 15 digs and Brianna Figueroa had 13. Van Laten handed out 30 assists and was perfect from the service line at 19-for-19 with one ace.

The Trolls next contest is a home non-conference match with Clarke University on September 25.
