Trolls Travel to Tabor for Opening Round

In the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round, the Trolls will travel to Hillsboro, Kansas, to face the Bluejays of Tabor College.  The two qualifying teams will play in a 1 pm game on November 18 with the winner advancing to the National Championship Final Site at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, on November 28-December 2.

The Trolls and finished the regular season as the CCAC Co-Champions with a 16-1 conference record and earned the top seed for the conference tournament and an automatic bid to the NAIA Opening Round.  In the CCAC Tournament they defeated Roosevelt University and Cardinal Stritch University before falling to Saint Xavier University in the championship match. The Trolls are currently 27-12 overall and are making their fourth trip to the national tournament.

The Tabor Bluejays post a 27-9 overall and are receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll.  At 18-5 in their Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), they finished in third place in the standings, but earned the right to the Opening Round at the KCAC tournament champions with a win over top seeded Ottawa University. The Bluejays are making their second consecutive appearance to the national tournament as a year ago they advanced to the Final Site.

The Opening Round consists of 24 teams playing at 12 sites. The winners of those matches will join 20 other qualifers, who received Opening Round byes, for the 32-team Final Site field.  The teams that advance to Sioux City will be seeded into eight pools of four with pool play on November 28-30 to determine the top sixteen to move on to the single elimination tournament on December 1-2.
