Trolls Claim Conference Title

In the final match of the conference schedule, the Trolls defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph (Whiting, Indiana) in three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-12, and 25-10. With the win the team finishes with a 16-1 CCAC record and claims first place in the standings. They also earn an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.

In the first set the Trolls rolled to a 12-6 lead and behind a couple more scoring runs were soon ahead 21-9. After giving up two points, they finished out with next four points on three kills and a service ace.

In the second set the score was tied at 6-6 before the Trolls scored the next four points to take the lead.  Trinity allowed the Crimson Wave only six more points in the match as they cruised to the 25-12 win.

The third set was never in question as Trinity surged to a 14-2 lead.  By the time Calumet-St. Joseph reached double digits the Trolls had a 22-10 lead. With kills by Anna Maatman, Melanie Belstra, and Danielle Oeverman, the Trolls finished the match.

Trinity ended the match with 48 kills and a .452 attack percentage. Christa Veenstra led the team with 14 kills behind a .619 attack percentage. Lydia Smits and Belstra each had 10 kills. Dani Van Laten tallied 37 assists and had three aces. In the dig category Brianna Figueroa had 18 digs and b had 13.

The Trolls will play in the final match of their season on November 3 at home against Indiana University-Northwest at 7 pm.
