Trolls Post Another Conference Victory

The Trolls remain undefeated through the first round of conference matches against teams in the South Division of the CCAC.  The latest victory came in a home contest with Calumet College of St. Joseph (Whiting, Indiana).  The team took the match in three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-9. Trinity is 12-7 overall and 5-0 in the CCAC.

In the first set the Trolls trailed at 5-7, but with Kacie Stoll on the service line they went on a 12 point run to take a commanding 17-7 lead.  In that stretch Stoll had four aces.  From there the team finished out for the win.

With a new line-up the Trolls took the slight lead in the early part of the second set. They stretched a 13-10 lead to an 18-10 gap. The team maintained that scoring margin for the rest of the set for the 25-16 win.

In the third set the Trolls scored handfuls of points at a time and jumped to a 9-1 start. They continued to pull away and did not allow the Crimson Wave to reach double-digits.

For the match 15 different players were on the court for the Trolls. The team ended with 40 kills and a .258 attacking percentage. Britta Heggeland led the team with 11 kills and only one error in 19 attempts.  She also had four blocks. Alexa Wright added seven kills and Melanie Belstra had five. Brianna Figueroa ended with match with 23 digs and Ana Lambros had eight. Dani Van Laten and Wright each had 11 assists and Juliana Dykstra had 10.

The Trolls will play in a CCAC Crossover Tournament at Governors State University this weekend. They play Robert Morris at 4 pm on Friday and Roosevelt at 11 am and Judson at 3 pm on Saturday.
