Wurtz, E. Armstrong earn Player of the Week honors

Two Trinity women’s soccer players earned Player of the Week honors following a 1-0 overtime win against the No. 19 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles.

Junior Easton Armstrong leads the way, scoring the game-winning goal in the overtime matchup between the two teams on Sept. 14, earning her CCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Along with scoring her first goal of the season, Armstrong put offensive pressure on the Eagles, registering another shot on goal and adding another two more shots to the stat sheet.

Following her debut performance in a Trolls uniform, freshman Ashley Wurtz received the NCCAA Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week and CCAC Defensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer.

The 5-foot-8-inch goalkeeper helped Trinity beat No. 19 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Saturday, with a game that went into overtime. This was Wurtz’s first appearance in goal for the Trolls this year, and she made some key saves that helped result in the victory.
