Trolls Are Perfect in Pool Play

The Trolls made it a perfect 3-0 in their Pool Play in the NCCAA National Championship in Kissimmee, Florida. In their final pool play game the No. 1 Trolls faced No. 4 Ottawa University-Arizona (Surprise, Arizona). Trinity struck in the opening minutes of each half to post a 2-0 victory over Ottawa. As the winners of their pool the Trolls advance to the championship game on December 1 at 5 pm.

Trinity gained the advantage early in the game when they scored in the opening three minutes of the game. With only 2:35 off the clock Selah Hopkins put the team on the board when she completed a sequence from Taylor Miller and Elly Brummel. Trinity continued to control play as they had eight shots in the period while holding the Spirit to only two shots.  At the half it was that early goal that held and gave the Trolls a 1-0 lead.

The second period started in the same fashion as the first one with a goal in the opening minutes. Less than two minutes into the half, Jessica Bianchi finished a pass by Jessica Owen to give the team a 2-0 lead.  Throughout the rest of the period Trinity took seven more shots to keep up the attack. Ottawa had a total of six shots in the half.

For the game Trinity ended with 16 shots of which 10 were on goal. Ottawa had eight shots with half on goal which were saved by Allyson Kranstz.  The shut-out was the team’s 16th for the season.

The Trolls will compete in the championship game against Oklahoma Wesleyan University at 5 pm EST on December 1.
