Player of the Week Recognition for Uhl and VanElst

Playing a significant role in the Trolls’ 8-0 shut-out victory over Judson University (Elgin, Illinois) in the first round of the conference tournament, Brianna Uhl (Upland, California) and Kaleigh VanElst (Grandville, Michigan) earned Player of the Week honors.  Uhl was named the Offensive Player of the Week for both the CCAC as well as the NCCAA. VanElst was the CCAC Defender of the Week.

Uhl, a freshman forward, was involved in the three of the team’s scoring plays with two goals and one assist.  Against Judson she scored at the end of the first period to give the team a 4-0 lead. In the 75th minute she assisted a goal and then four minutes later dribbled around a defender to take a shot that found the net.  For the game she ended with three shots, which were all on-goal, in her 59 minutes of play.

Sophomore defender Kaleigh VanElst was a part of the defensive squad that recorded the shut-out.  The defense not only prevented a goal, but they held the Eagles without a shot. The team posts 14 shut-outs for the season and has given up only eight goals.

The Trolls are 17-1 for the season, No. 1 in the conference, and No. 19 in the NAIA rankings.
