Trolls Suffer First Loss

It was a blustery day for Senior Day as the No. 18 Trolls hosted Trinity International University (Deerfield, Illinois). With the wind whipping and rain drops intermittently falling, these two conference rivals battled on the field. The Trojans took a 1-0 half-time lead and went up by two goals in the second half. The Trolls got on the board, but despite an intense effort they could not get the tying goal and ended with a 2-1 loss. It is the first loss for the season for the Trolls and it was the first time they had given up a goal in eight games. The team is now 15-1 overall and 8-1 in the conference.

The two goals for the Trojans were scored in similar manners as they came off of saved shots that rebounded off the Trinity keeper. The first goal by Trinity International was scored in the 25th minute and put the Trojans ahead 1-0 at the half. The second goal was scored in the 58th minute.

After the Trojans took a 2-0 lead, the Trolls fought back strong. In the 64th minute Jessica Bianchi took a pass from Taylor Miller up the middle of the field, made a few dribbles, and threaded the ball by the keeper.

The Trolls continued to feverishly push to get the game-tying goal. The Trojans were able to concentrate on defense to hold the Trolls off.  Trinity had a quality opportunity to score in the 88th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick, but the attempt went high.  That was the final shot they had for the game.

Overall Trinity had 12 shots of which 10 were on goal. The Trojans had six shots with five on goal. Allyson Kranstz ended with three saves.

The team plays in their final regular season game on October 27 at Saint Xavier University at 5:30 pm.
