Jessica Owen Named CCAC Player of the Week

With another victory for the Trolls came more CCAC weekly honors as Jessica Owen (Caledonia, Michigan) was named the CCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.  Owen was instrumental in the team’s shut-out victory that handed St. Ambrose University their first conference loss of the season. With the win the Trolls gained sole possession of first place in the CCAC and remain undefeated for the season at 14-0.

Owen, a senior midfielder, scored the first two goals of the 4-0 win over the Fighting Bees. She scored the game’s first goal midway through the first period to give the team a 1-0 half-time lead. Ten minutes into the second period she added another goal to cushion the team’s advantage. For the game Owen ended with three shots of which all were on goal.

For the season Owen has a total of seven goals and four assists. She ranks in the top ten in the CCAC in point average and in goal average and is second in game winning goals with four.

The Trolls are ranked No. 18 in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll.  In their 14-0 record the team has shut-out 11 opponents. Trinity has scored 59 goals and given up six.
