Trinity Denies St. Ambrose

The Trolls played at St. Ambrose University (Davenport, Iowa) in an important conference game. Coming into the contest, both teams were undefeated in their CCAC schedule. After the game, Trinity remained the undefeated team as they took down the Fighting Bees with a 4-0 final. The Trolls not only handed St. Ambrose their first conference loss, but gave them only their second loss of the season. Trinity stands at 14-0 overall and 7-0 in the CCAC.

Trinity’s offense and defense showed up to play to put together a complete game. The offensive took 18 shots for the game and had 13 on goal. They also scored four goals. The defense allowed St. Ambrose only four shots. They posted their 11th shut-out of the season and have not given up a goal in their last five contests.

The Trolls gained the advantage in the game in the 27th minute when Jessica Owen one-touched a flick pass from Selah Hopkins to find the net. That goal was the only one of the first period.

Trinity started to take over in the second period when Owen found the back of the net again in the 56th minute. The goal was assisted by Jessica Bianchi. The team continued to pull away when, 11 minutes later, Hopkins beat the defenders and scored to make it a 3-0 game.

Before the game was over Bianchi was heard from as she scored on a pass from Brianna Uhl in the 83rd minute.

The Trolls are next in action on October 16 at home against Holy Cross College.
