Jessica Bianchi Named NCCAA Player of the Week

The Trolls remain undefeated for the season and their 13-0 record has been helped along by senior forward Jessica Bianchi (Elmhurst, Illinois). For her accomplishments she received recognition as the NCCAA Women’s Soccer Division I Offensive Player of the Week.  For the week the team posted two shut-out victories and Bianchi accounted for four of the Trolls’ seven goals.

Bianchi’s four goals of the week were all scored in a 6-0 win in a conference game at Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois). She scored two goals in each half, including, in what proved to be the game winner, a goal three minutes into the game.  The hat trick, her first of the season, came four minutes into the second period.  She ended the game with eight shots of which five were on-goal, including the four goals.

Earlier in the week the team posted a 1-0 win over rival Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, Illinois). In that game Bianchi shot four shots of which three were on-goal.  It was on a tackle in the box on her attempt to score that led to the Trolls’ goal on a penalty kick by teammate Jessica Owen.

For the season Bianchi has a total of 19 goals and four assists. She leads the conference in shots, points, and goals. She also has five game winning goals for the season.
