Trinity Shuts-Out St. Francis

A conference game resulted in another victory for the Trolls to maintain their undefeated streak of 11 straight wins for the season. In a home contest Trinity shut-out the University of St. Francis (Joliet, Illinois) with an 8-0 final. The Trolls built a 5-0 half-time lead and scored the final three goals in the second period.  The team is 11-0 for the season and 4-0 in the CCAC.

One half of the Trolls’ goals were scored by Brianna Uhl, who had two in the each period.  In addition she had one assist. Jessica Bianchi was also involved in three of the scoring plays with one goal and two assists.

The Trolls started their scoring early in the game when Jessica Owen scored on a short pass from Bianchi in the opening four minutes. Bianchi kept things going three minutes later when she scored to make it 2-0. Uhl’s first goal came midway through the period on a pass form the right side from Bianchi. That goal gave the Trolls a 3-0 lead.

Freshman Erika Perez got into the scoring action with a header off a corner kick by Miranda Kortenhoeven in the 37th minute. The final goal of the first half came from Uhl in the 42nd minute on a header from a pass from the right win by Sara Shea.  

Midway through the second period the Trolls got on the board again when Selah Hopkins took a pass from Uhl and dribble through the defense and found the net. Late in the game Uhl marked her hat trick with a goal in the 79th minute on an assist from Marissa Fields. Uhl added one more goal in the final minute for the 8-0 final.

Overall the Trolls had 29 shots for the game and St. Francis took three. Allyson Kranstz and Lindsey Dykema split time in the goal to share the shut-out victory.

The team will play next on October 2 at home against Olivet Nazarene University at 4 pm.
