Selah Hopkins Named Player of the Week

Helping the team to another two victories to add to their undefeated record, freshman Selah Hopkins (Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada) earned Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors for the NCCAA and the CCAC for September 17-22.  For the two games she scored a total of four goals and had one assist. She took eight shots of which six were on-goal.

The team started their week with a come-from-behind 6-3 victory over Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), the opponent they faced in the conference championship a year ago. Hopkins scored the team’s only first half goal in the opening 10 minutes of the game. With a 2-2 tie in the second period she assisted the Trolls’ next goal to put them in the lead. After the Wolvers tie the score again, Hopkins scored an unassisted goal less than a minute later to give the team a lead they did not relinquish through the rest of the game.

In the 5-0 shut-out victory over Robert Morris University (Chicago, Illinois) Hopkins accounted for two of the team’s goals. She scored midway through the first period for the 2-0 lead and added the team’s third goal four minutes into the second period.

For the season Hopkins has nine goals and four assists.  She ranks second in the CCAC in point average at 2.44 and in goal average at 1.00 and is fourth in assist average at 0.44. She also has two game winning goals. She ranks in the top 20 in the NAIA in total goals and total points.
