CCAC Player of the Week Honors for Bianchi and Brummel

With another two victories to keep their undefeated season alive, the Trolls captured the CCAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors for September 10-15.  Jessica Bianchi (Elmhurst, Illinois) was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Elly Brummel (Hudsonville, Michigan) was the Defensive Player of the Week.

The conference weekly honors came from a week in which the team posted two shut-out victories over two Crossroads League opponents. They defeated Bethel College (Mishawka, Indiana) with a 3-0 final on September 12 and followed with a 3-0 win at Huntington University (Huntington, Indiana) on September 15.

In the two games Jessica Bianchi accounted for half of the team’s six goals and also added an assist. Against Bethel she scored in the first three minutes of the game. She later added an assist in the second half to the team’s third goal. She was also responsible for putting the Trolls on the board in the win at Huntington as she scored the team’s two first half goals.  Overall in the two contests, she took a total of 12 shots of which 10 were on-goal.

With a total of 10 goals for the season Bianchi ranks sixth in the NAIA in total goals and fourth in the nation with three-game winning goals.  The CCAC Offensive Player of the Week honor was Bianchi’s second of the season.

Senior defender Elly Brummel anchored the defensive that posted the two shut-out wins.  Against Bethel the defense allowed only two shots-on-goal. They also limited Huntington to five shots on-frame. In the first seven games of the season the Trinity defense has recorded five shut-outs and given up only three goals.
