Bianchi and Kranstz Named CCAC Players of the Week

The Trolls are off to a stellar start to their 2018 campaign with a 5-0 record. Three of those victories came in the week of August 26-September 1 and for their efforts in those win Jessica Bianchi (Elmhurst, Illinois) and Allyson Kranstz (Portage, Michigan) were named the CCAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week respectively.

In the three games of the week the Trolls scored a total of 13 goals and gave up only one. They shut-out Indiana Tech (Fort Wayne, Indiana) with a score of 5-0 on August 28 and repeated that performance with a 5-0 shut-out at Dordt College (Sioux Center, Iowa) on August 31. The final game of the week was a 3-1 win at Northwestern College (Orange City, Iowa) on September 1.

For the week Jessica Bianchi led the team offensively with a total of five goals. The senior forward had a total of 29 shots in the three contests and placed 17 of those attempts on goal. In the Indiana Tech win Bianchi put the team on the board with the opening goal of the game. In 51 minutes of play at Dordt, she scored two goals within a minute of each other in the first half to help the team to a 3-0 lead at the half.  After a scoreless first half in the Northwestern game, Bianchi scored in the first 10 minutes of the second period and added the team’s third goal late in the period.

For the season Bianchi has a total of seven goals and is leading the conference in scoring. She also ranks seventh in the NAIA in goals scored.

Sophomore goalkeeper Allyson Kranstz gave up only one goal in the three contests of the week. She also registered two shut-outs, one of which was a shared effort.  For the week she had a total of five saves. She saved both shots she faced against Indiana Tech, saved the only shot-on-goal from Dordt, and had two saves against Northwestern.

For the season Kranstz has started every game and logged 412 minutes in the goal. She has a 0.65 goal against average with a total of 13 saves. She also has two complete shut-outs and one shared shut-out.  She ranks in the top 20 in the NAIA in goal against average and leads the CCAC in that category.
