Trinity Denies Dordt

The offense and defense continue to do their job as the Trolls posted their second 5-0 win in a row. This latest shut-out victory came in the team’s first road game played at Dordt College (Sioux Center, Iowa). The team scored three goals in the first period to take a comfortable lead and added another two in the second period.  The Trolls improve to 3-0 for the season.

The Trinity defense has not given up a goal yet this season as they have denied their first three opponents. Against Dordt they gave up only three shots.

The offense is finding ways to score and to get multiple people in the action. The Trolls’ first goal of the game came in the 22nd minute when Selah Hopkins finished a pass by Taylor Miller. The team took control of the game when Jessica Bianchi scored two goals with a minute of each other in the 33rd minute. Jessica Owen and Brianna Uhl had the assists on those goals.

The two goals of the second period also came close together. In the 65th minute Uhl found the net to give the Trolls a 4-0 lead. Less than three minutes later Alexa Miller scored an unassisted goal for the 5-0 lead.

The Trolls ended the game with 21 shots while Dordt had three. Allyson Kranstz and Lindsey Dykema shared the shut-out.

The team will play next at Northwestern College on September 1 at 7:15 pm.
