Trolls Shut-Out Warriors

The second game of the season for the Trolls resulted in a second shut-out of the season. This home contest was a 5-0 win for the team over Indiana Tech (Fort Wayne, Indiana). The Trolls scored three goals in the first period and added another two in first 25 minutes of the second half. With just under 20 minutes to play the game was called due to threatening weather.

The scoring started for the Trolls in the 28th minute when Jessica Bianchi took a pass up the middle of the field from Selah Hopkins and beat the defenders to put the team on the scoreboard. Six minutes later freshman Miranda Kortenhoeven gained her first collegiate goal off a direct kick by Lexxy Trujillo.

Before the first period ended Hopkins gave the Trolls a 3-0 lead when she dribbled along the left end line and slipped one by the keeper.

The Trolls kept up the attack in the second period and added their fourth goal in the 59th minute. Hopkins scooted a ball along the front of the goal mouth and Shaelyn Postmus was there for the touch into the net.

With 20 minutes left in the game the Millers connected as Alexa headed in a corner kick from Taylor. With the 5-0 lead and an official 70 minutes of play completed the game was called as threatening weather moved in.

For the game the Trolls had 23 shots and Indiana Tech had two.

The team travels to Iowa this weekend where they will play at Dordt College on August 31 and at Northwestern College at September 1.
