Trolls Shut-out Spartans in Season Opener

The 2018 season began for the women’s soccer team in a home contest with Missouri Baptist University (St. Louis, Missouri). The first-ever meeting between these two programs ended in a 2-0 victory for the Trolls who scored one goal in each half.  The goals came early in the first period and late in the second period for the shut-out victory.

Trinity got on the board early when they score in the opening eight minutes of the game.  A shot by Taylor Miller was stopped by the Missouri Baptist goalkeeper, but Jessica Owen found the live ball in the box and headed it in to put the Trolls on the board.

The Trolls dominated play through most of the game and had a total of 21 shots while allowing the Spartans only one in each half. Despite that difference Trinity did not pull away from their opponent and gain some breathing room until the 81st minute. At that time a yellow card violation gave the Trolls a penalty kick that Owen finished for the score.

Trinity ended the game with 21 shots of which 11 were on-goal. Allyson Kranstz was in the goal with two saves.

The Trolls play next on August 28 in another home contest against Indiana Tech at 4 pm.
