Trolls Fall to No. 18 Benedictine

In the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round, the Trolls travelled to the campus of Benedictine University in Atchison, Kansas. Trinity and the No. 18 Ravens played through a scoreless first half, but Benedictine got on the board three times in the second period to hand the Trolls a 3-0 loss. The team ends their season with a 19-3 record.

Through the first half of the game the Trolls and the Ravens battled back and forth. Trinity had three shots in the period and Benedictine tallied seven shots. However at the break the game was still 0-0.

It was not until midway through the second period that the scoring began. Benedictine scored off a deflected shot in the 68th minute and then made it 2-0 in in the 75th minute. The final goal was added late in the game in the 87th minute when a long arching sot curved in over Trinity’s keeper’s head in the 87th minute.

For the game Trinity ended with a total of eight shots and Benedictine had 18. Sierra Christopher and Emily Ponstein shared time in the goal. Ponstein had three saves.
