Trinity Gets First Round Win

The No. 2 Trolls started their conference tournament with home contest against No. 7 Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois). Midway through the first period the scoring started for Trinity and by the half they had a 2-0 lead.  In the second half the team continued to control play and ended with a 6-1 victory.  With the win the team will advance to the semifinal round.

The Trolls had a barrage of shots in the first half and kept the Roosevelt defense busy. It was not until the 30 minute mark that Trinity first got on the board as Jessica Bianchi headed in a ball off a corner kick from Taylor Miller.  Eight minutes later Bianchi used her head again as she finished a long pass up the center of the field from Tori Rivas. Those two goals held at the half for the 2-0 score.

It took only three minutes into the second period for Trinity to get on the board again. This time Miller was on the receiving end of the cross from Marissa Fields and Miller found the upper corner of the net. In the 56th minute the Trolls made it 4-0 when a cross came from Jessica Owen on the right side and Lexi Zambrano finished for the goal.

The Trolls were not finished as Bianchi completed her hat trick as she took a short pass from Jadyn Wilson, made a dribble around the defender, and put the team ahead 5-0.

With 15 minutes left in the game Roosevelt took away the shut-out when they scored off a corner kick to mark the scoreboard. Before the game ended Trinity added a final goal with Peyton Richmond scoring on an Abbigal Nienhuis assist.

For the game the Trolls had 39 shots and Roosevelt had nine. Sierra Christopher had two saves and Emily Ponstein had six.
