Trolls Defeated in Final Minutes

For only the second time this year the Trolls were not the top team on the scoreboard at the end of a game. This second loss came in a conference game at Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, Illinois) with a 3-2 final. Most of the scoring came in the first half in which each team scored twice. The teams played in that tie until late in the game when Olivet Nazarene found the net to take the lead and hand the Trolls the loss. For the season Trinity is 10-2 overall and 3-2 in the CCAC.

Olivet Nazarene was the first team on the board when they scored in the 11th minute on a free kick. Trinity made it a 1-1 game when Lexxy Trujillo found the net in the 29th minute.

The game went back in favor of the Tigers in the 37th minute as the Tigers scored again. However their lead was short lived as Jessica Bianchi dribble through the defenders and struck 30 seconds later to deadlock the teams at 2-2.  It was that score that held at the half.

The Trolls and the Tigers played in the tie for the majority of the second half. With time winding down the teams pressed to gain the advantage.  That edge came in the 83rd minute when Olivet fired and found the corner of the net for the game winner.

For the game the Trolls had 10 shots with four on goal. Olivet Nazarene had 28 shots and 11 on goal. Sierra Christopher and Emily Ponstein split time in the goal and had four saves each.

The Trolls continue conference action on October 7 in a home contest against Roosevelt University at noon.
