Trolls Shut-out Eagles

On a very hot fall afternoon the No. 24 Trolls hosted Robert Morris University (Chicago, Illinois) in a conference contest.  Trinity scored in the early part of the first half and took the 1-0 lead into the half. That goal proved to be the difference as neither team scored in the second period and the game ended in the 1-0 win. The team is 8-1 for the season and 1-1 in the CCAC.

Trinity definitely had the advantage in the shot count in the first half with 10 shots to the Robert Morris’ two.  Both of those shots were on frame from Trinity and one was a goal. In the 18th minute Taylor Miller fed a nice pass up the field to Jessica Bianchi.  Bianchi dribbled around the defender and fired to find the back of the net.

The Trolls protected their lead in the second period and had only one more shot. Robert Morris had five attempts of which three were stopped by goalkeeper Emily Ponstein. With neither team scoring, the game ended in the 1-0 final.

Trinity had a total of 11 shots for the game and the Eagles had seven. Sierra Christopher had two saves in the first half to go with Ponstein’s three second half saves. It was the team’s fourth shut-out of the season.

The team will play next on September 26 at home against Judson University at 4 pm.
