Trolls Defeat Foresters

The Trolls got their second win in as many days in a home contest with Huntington University (Huntington, Indiana). After a scoreless first half, Trinity scored three goals in the second half to take the commanding lead. It looked as if they would follow up yesterday’s shut-out with another one until Huntington scored in the final minute for the 3-1 final. The Trolls are now 2-0 to start the season.

The Trolls had some good opportunities in the first period, but could not get on the board. They continued to persist and were rewarded in the 59th minute when Jessica Owen fed a ball up the field to Jessica Bianchi who beat the defender and the goalkeeper to find the net.

It was only seven minutes later that the Trolls scored again when Bianchi touched a cross to Jadyn Wilson who finished the shot for the goal.

Trinity played with the 2-0 until the 74th minute when Bianchi struck again. She took pass from Lexi Zambrano and fired a shot that hit the crossbar and came down inside the goal line for her second counter of the game.

In the final minute of the game Huntington scored in a scramble at the goal mouth following a corner kick to get on the board and prevent the shut-out.

For the game the Trolls ended with 21 shots of which 19 were on-goal and Huntington had 15. Sierra Christopher and Emily Ponstein each had four saves.

The team will be at home again in their next contest on August 26 at 2:30 pm against Bethel College.
