Trolls Shut-out Clarke in Season Opener

The season opener for the Trolls was in front of their home crowd at the Schaaf Athletics Complex. The team took a 3-0 lead in the first half against Clarke University (Dubuque, Iowa). They added one more midway through the second period for the 4-0 shut-out victory.

The Trolls’ lead in the first half came from a hat trick by Jessica Bianchi. She scored in the first two minutes of the game to give the team the advantage from the start. In the 10th minute she added a second goal.  Midway through the period Bianchi had a penalty kick that the Clarke keeper deflected away, but Bianchi followed up the rebound and put the ball in the net for her hat trick.

The Trolls’ final goal of the game came in the 65th minute and was scored on another penalty kick. This time Jessica Owen took the shot that evaded the keeper for the goal.

Trinity had a total of 18 shots for the game and held Clarke without one. Sierra Christopher and Emily Ponstein shared the shut-out in the goal.

The Trolls will continue action on Wednesday, August 23, in a home contest with Huntington University at 4 pm.
