Trolls’ Season Ends in Loss to Roosevelt

In the final game of the regular season on Senior Day the Trolls hosted Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois) in a conference game. It was tight first quarter with Trinity only trailing by four points. However by the half the team was down by 15 at 42-27. The scoring margin increased in the second half and Trinity ended in with an 88-57 loss. The Trolls finish their season at 3-26 overall and 1-19 in the CCAC.

Shooting .500 percent in the first quarter the Trolls were able to hold the Lakers in check. After starting in a 7-0 deficit, Trinity pulled to within two points with 4:20 to play and tied the game at 14-14 with three minutes left. Roosevelt went back ahead by six only to have the Trolls cut it to four, 22-18, at the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter the Trolls closed the gap to one point, but then were out-scored 18-to-2 over the next six minutes to fall behind by 17 points. A lay-up made by Aubrey Goorman at the buzzer to end of the half made it a 42-27 game.

Four minutes into the third period the Trolls fell behind by 20 points and after a five minute stretch in which they did not score they were behind by 32. At the end of the quarter the score was 66-37.

Trinity scored their most points in the final quarter as they added 20. In that 10 minute segment they were behind by as many as 37 and as close as 24. In the end the final difference was 31 points.

The Trolls shot .355 percent from the field, .308 percent from the arc, and .455 percent from the line. Roosevelt was .481 percent accurate from the floor, .273 percent from the three-point line, and .533 percent from the charity stripe. Trinity had 38 rebounds and Roosevelt had 48. Aubrey Goorman led the team with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Breanna Toppen added 13 points. Alexis Knake had seven points, five rebounds, and four assists. Alyssa Mulligan ended with seven points and eight boards.

This contest ends the Trolls season as they will not advance to post-season play
