Trinity Loses at Robert Morris

The Trolls started the week in a make-up conference game at Robert Morris University (Chicago, Illinois). Trinity struggled with the pressure of the Eagles’ defense and fell behind early in the game. By the half Trinity was behind by 36 points at 58-22. The scoring difference increased in the second half and the final was a 90-33 loss for Trinity.

As has been a pattern for the Trolls, they fall into a sizable deficit early in the game. With only two points in the first five minutes Trinity trailed 19-2. The defensive pressure applied by the Eagles created difficulties for the Trolls who were plagued by turnovers and had limited number of shot attempts.

By the end of the first quarter the Trolls were down 32-9. Trinity fell further behind in the second quarter and at the half the difference was 36 points at 58-22.

The third quarter did not get any better for the Trolls as they were held scoreless until the final 40 seconds of the period. With only two points in the quarter, Trinity was down by 48 at 72-24 at the end of the third.  With four minutes left in the final period the scoring difference grew to 58 at 90-32. In those final minutes Trinity scored one free throw to bring the final score to 90-33.

The Trolls ended the game with a .277 field goal percentage, a .200 three-point percentage, and a .500 free throw percentage. Robert Morris shot .455 percent from the field, .378 percent from the arc, and .667 percent from the line. Trinity ended with 31 rebounds and committed 30 turnovers. The Eagles had 44 rebounds and 21 steals. Brenna Toppen led the team with 18 points and Alyssa Mulligan had nine. Alexis Knake was the high rebounder with seven.
