Trolls Defeated by Northwestern

Entering the Northwestern College Pizza Ranch Classic in Orange City, Iowa, with a limited roster size, the Trolls had a challenge as they faced the host team, who is ranked No. 5 in the NAIA. The seven players on Trinity’s team fell behind in the first quarter and were down 48-18 at the half. The scoring gap grew in the second half and the Trolls ended in a 94-45 loss.

With only two points in the first five minutes the Trolls fell behind by 12 points at 14-2 to the nationally ranked Red Raiders. It was that 12 point difference that held at the end of the quarter at 24-12.

Trinity scored a three-pointer in the opening minute of the second quarter to cut the difference to nine, but then did not score again for over six minutes and was down by 23 points. Northwestern added a total of 24 points in the period and the Trolls added only six to make it a 30 point gap at the half.

While Trinity added more points in the opening five minutes of the third period than they did in the entire second period, Northwestern also kept up the scoring and the deficit continued to increase. By the end of the quarter the difference was 53 points. Trinity continued to push in the final quarter to finish out the game, but ended in a 49 point loss.

The Trolls ended the game shooting .267 percent from the field, .143 percent from the arc, and .667 percent from the line.
