Trinity Falls at Roosevelt

At the end of the exam week the Trolls faced the test of a conference game at Roosevelt University (Chicago, Illinois).  A slow start for the Trolls created a deficit from the beginning. Trinity fell behind in the first quarter and by the half they trailed the Lakers 33-22. The scoring gap continued to increase in the second half and the Trinity ended in a 77-45 loss. The team is 2-11 overall and 0-7 in the CCAC.

It took the Trolls three minutes to score their first basket, yet with six minutes left in the first period they only trailed by one point. However the team did not score in the final 3:30 of the quarter and by the end of the first period they were down 20-8.

The scoring gap stayed in double digits throughout the second quarter. Trinity actually gained one point in the quarter and at the half was down by 11 at 33-22.

Again the Trolls started out slowly in the first part of the second half and added only two points in the first five minutes of the third period. By that time they had given up 11 points and were down by 20. The difference increased to 24 by the end of the quarter.

In the final quarter the scoring gap continued to increase as the Trolls added 13 points and the Lakers scored 21 points.

For the game the Trolls shot .296 percent from the field, .261 percent from the arc, and .700 percent from the line. The Lakers were .429 percent overall, .267 percent from three-point line, and .650 percent from the charity stripe. The Trolls had 45 rebounds and Roosevelt had 50, of which 20 were offensive. Aubrey Goorman led the team with 14 points and Breanna Toppen had eight. Alexis Knake was the high rebounder with seven while Kyla Pitts had six. Brenna Groenewold had five assists.

The Trolls next game will be in Florida on December 17 in an exhibition contest at Rollins College at 6 pm ET.
