Trolls Struggle Against St. Francis

It was a rough night for the Trolls as they hosted No. 9 University of St. Francis (Joliet, Illinois) in a conference game. Trinity only scored in the double digits in one of the four quarters as they fell behind early in the game. At the half the team had 12 points and was down 23-12. They added 17 points in the second half to end in a 51-29 loss. The team drops to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the CCAC.

Through the first seven minutes of the game the Trolls had scored only three points and by that time they trailed 11-3. The team scored one more basket in the half and by the end of the quarter they were down 19-5.

Trinity still struggled from the floor in the second half and added only seven points to their total. The good news was that St. Francis scored even less with four points in the 10 minute stretch. With seven minutes to play in the quarter the score was 23-9 and it remained there until the final seconds when Breanna Toppen put in three free throws.

The Trolls lost ground in the second half and by the end of the quarter they trailed by 16 points.  In the final quarter of the game the gap increased to as many as 22 points and it was that gap that held at the end of the game.

For the game Trolls shot .188 percent from the field, .125 percent from the arc, and .818 percent from the line. St. Francis was .328 percent from the floor, .286 percent from the three-point line, .636 percent from the line. Trinity had 29 rebounds and St. Francis had 47. Toppen was the top scorer for the team with eight points. Kyla Pitts led the rebounding with seven. Aubrey Goorman ended with four points, five rebounds, and three blocks.

The Trolls play next on December 1 at Olivet Nazarene University at 1 pm.
