Trinity Downed by Wolves

The Trolls faced another battle as they played at No. 22 Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin).  Trinity fell behind from the beginning and trailed the entire game. At the end of the first quarter they were down by three, but at the half the difference was 15 points at 44-29. The Trolls continued to lose ground in the second half and ended in an 80-52 loss. The team is now 2-6 for the season and 0-3 in the CCAC.

The first six points of the game belonged to Cardinal Stritch and midway through the first quarter the Wolves had a 13-2 lead.  Two minutes later the Wolves still had a double digit lead, but the Trolls finished the quarter strong and closed the gap to three at 21-18.

The Trolls only scored two points in the first four minutes of the second half and by that time had fell behind by 14 points. The scoring continued to come slowly for the team and went down as many as 18 points before the 15 point difference, 44-29, at the half.

The scoring gap remained significant in the third quarter as the Trolls did not gain ground. In the opening minutes of the fourth quarter the team made up a little ground, but an 18-to3 run by Cardinal Stritch in the final seven minutes of the game created the 28 point difference at the final.

For the game the Trolls shot .316 percent from the field, .250 percent from the arc, and .900 percent from the line. Cardinal Stritch was .446 percent from the floor, .200 percent from the three-point line, and .667 percent from the free throw line. The Trolls had 28 rebounds and the Wolves had 55. Trinity was led by Aubrey Goorman with 17 points and three rebounds. Breanna Toppen had 10 points and four assists. Kyla Pitts added nine points and five rebounds. Bailey Larsen had six rebounds and Val Guzman had eight points.

The Trolls will play next on November 28 at home against the University of St. Francis at 5:30 pm.
