Trinity Defeated by Robert Morris

The Trolls could not stop their losing streak as they hosted Robert Morris University (Chicago, Illinois) in a conference game. The team fell behind in the first quarter and never got the lead. At the half the score was 45-36. Trinity struggled to score in the third period and the scoring gap grew. By the game’s end the Trolls took a 98-64 loss. The team is now 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the CCAC.

For the majority of the first quarter the teams were within a few points of each other. With four minutes left in the period Robert Morris went on a 9-to-0 run to take a double digit lead at 22-10. By the end of the quarter the Trolls had it to within nine at 24-15.

Through the first five minutes of the second period Trinity was out-scored 16-to-7 to fall behind by 18 points. The gap widened to 21 points, but the Trolls rallied back before the half. They did not allow the Eagles a point in the final four minutes of the half and had the difference back to nine, 45-36, at the break.

Trinity experienced shooting woes in the third period as they shot only .200 percent.  Meanwhile Robert Morris was .500 percent accurate in the period.  As a result the Trolls fell further behind and were down by 26, 73-47, at the end of the third quarter.

The difference was still at 26 points late in the fourth period. In the final four minutes the Trolls scored only two more points and Eagles finished just two points shy of the century mark.

For the game Trinity shot .333 percent from the floor, .200 percent from the arc, and .571 percent from the line.  Robert Morris was .477 percent from the field, .281 percent from the three-point line, and .778 percent from the free throw line. Trinity had 41 rebounds to the Eagles’ 57.  Kyla Pitts led the team with 21 points while also recording three assists and three steals. Aubrey Goorman had 19 points and 11 rebounds.  Bailey Larsen chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.
